Great response to Far Cry 2, Call O Duty WAW & Modern, Crysis, HL2 / CS Source, Fear 2 - max settings running to a 1920 x 1200 hdtv (26inch). If you want to be able to max out your settings on your games, get this card. I scaled back a few settings of Far Cry 2 to get it a bit smoother, but I am very picky. Evga precision software is actually handy to have around.
Nothing I wasn't aware of because I did the research before buying.
I am coming to trust the user base on Newegg (save a few people who get their panties in a bunch over a DOA delivery - it happens guys, get over it) and have been putting together my new machine with that in mind.
If you see a 'winner of customer choice award' under the description of the product, it's gonna be a solid product at a reasonable price. I've been dropping an extra 15 or 20 bucks every step of the way (vid card, memory, hard drives, and motherboard/processor coming soon) and it has paid off in a VERY noticeable way. If you're thinking about a less expensive card to save 25 bucks, I recommend waiting a week and getting something you KNOW will do what you want.
I'm a long-time, dedicated EVGA user. I always recommend them as the #1 nvidia board partner for graphics but lately they seem to have had a run of bad cards and this latest thing about warranty only valid with registration has really gotten me steamed.
I bought this card for a fellow gamer as a birthday present back in July (about 6 months ago). It died around December, a truly hardcore death, computer lockup while watching TV and never once rebooted successfully. Swapped out for an old evga 7900 GS and it booted on the first try.
EVGA RMA process and service is always excellent, but this new procedure of only honoring lifetime warranty with registration is reprehensible. I stopped purchasing BFG when they started doing that, and I may have to do the same with EVGA. I do not appreciate you only honoring your commitment to your customers when they register with your website. As someone who builds systems for many people it is often impossible for me to register their parts - and what of the ethical implications of registering as "mine" something that belongs to someone else? What do I do when someone comes back to me to help them process an RMA because I was the original purchaser and system builder (with the receipts) but I have to tell them they don't have a warranty on their hideously expensive video card because the product was never registered with EVGA? This isn't how you do business. Your policy is bad and you should feel bad.
