Installation is super simple - this cooler was much easier to install than my Hyper 212 Evo was.
Performance is excellent. Keeps my i7-2600k around 30C at idle and 65-70C under load at 4.8 GHz! AMAZING!
It's inaudible in my case. Completely 100% silent even without using any of the low-noise adapters for the fans.
The only potential con is that if you have very tall RAM you may have trouble installing the cooler and/or fans or worst case may have to buy new (low-profile) RAM.
I've been using this for about 6 months now and I can't imagine ever using another CPU cooler. I was worried about installing a cooler this big being a pain, but it took literally about 2 minutes - it was a pleasant surprise!
Huge, almost twice the size of Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus.
The big problems with this cooler is:
#1 - The 120mm fan really doesn't do anything. Silentpcreview has an article where they ran this cooler at full speed and there was not 1 degree cooling difference between using both fans or only the 140mm fan. Might as well take the 120mm fan off and use it as a case fan, or maybe Noctua can keep it and knock down the price five bucks.
#2 - The fans on this cooler aren't PWM (the 4-pin connector) so my brand new MSI Mpower Z77 mobo can't control the speed and only runs them at full speed, which is noisy. Sure, you can use the "Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptor" which runs them at a lower speed but then you'll never get full cooling when you need it.
I have no clue why Noctua doesn't just ship this with one 140mm PWM fan, especially since they make them. I ended up purchasing this mystical fan (Model# NF-A15 PWM) separately and after removing the 120mm fan for good, swapped out the stock 140mm fan and finally I get a motherboard controlled CPU fan again.
Don't get me wrong, I like this cooler, but seriously, the fan choices on this by Noctua are just dumb. Sure, the NH-D14 SE2011 comes with PWM fans, but you need to purchase additional brackets for that to fit 1155 & 1156 mobos.
