-Current BIOS (2.0.3) works great with 13th Gen. (Internal USB/BiOS port allows you to upgrade the BIOS straight to allow Raptor Lake without an Alder Lake CPU for first time boot
-The 90 degree rotation on the CPU socket allows for shorter trace lengths to the Memory slots are now joke. Out of the box, a Corsair 7600 kit works on XMP3 with no issues!
My cons are all related to the Hyte Y60 and this board. Otherwise no other Cons!
-The Dark KPE is a bit wider, which over extends past the gourmets/rear entry
-The bottom of the board where the front IO/Fan Headers/Audio etc are also all angled 90degrees, facing to the bottom of the case. Have to install all of those connections before mounting on the Y60!
-EDIT: I do have one odd Con, Some of the BIOS revs from 2.0+ will change your hardware registers and Windows will detect 'new hardware changes' for each BIOS update. I actually ran out of Windows11 devices allowed and Support said I need to buy a new copy of Win11 lol
I would recommend this board if you are itching for a faster / high performance board. The Z790 Dark and Apex are not out yet (at time of this writing) but I honestly don't know how much more you'll get versus this Z690 Dark. The fact that I was able to XMP to 7600 out of the box was impressive. I don't feel that I need a Z790 board now.

This is really for enthusiasts. Yes, I know; it's all over the marketing of it. It requires lots of tinkering and stuff.
No 12th gen CPU bios update is doable, but you have to know what you're doing. But it's simple.
Frankly, I only bought it because it's an EVGA and the price.

USB 3.2 G2 front panel connector couldn't have been put on the worse place. If you have a big GPU, e.g., RTX 4090 FE, the cable will rub against it. So that's out. And for the G1 connector, they should have included a 90-degree adapter.
Again, if you have big GPU, accessing the pcie release clip will be difficult.
I think it's a solid product. I am hoping that EVGA stays alive and survives. Well, at least for the duration of the warranty. Such a shame that they're scaling back.
