Excellent product. Nice long cord length, and best of all, it uses the FTDI Chipset. If you are looking for a REAL USB to RS232 adapter, this is it. I work with many home automation, access control, and alarm systems which are VERY picky about which RS232 adapters they will use, and I have found that only those adapters using the FTDI chipset will work without a glitch. I bought a handful to keep on hand for my clients and techs. In short, if you are seeking a USB to RS232 adapter, look no further. Buy this one.

It simply works! A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Syba SY-USB-S USB to Serial adapter to use with my Magellan SportTrak Pro and my laptop. It is not configureable or adjustable, it defaulted to Comm 6 so making it useless for older serial devices that use only 1-4. A waste of $12, it's going in the trash. The IO Gear is a different story, it works like charm! The software driver is much better written and simple to change settings.

Painless to install since you do not need to crack open the machine, connects to USB port. Software installed without any problems.

I love it so much!

Configured my dell switch with no issues.

This works great with my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.3 to console into Cisco equipment. Installed the PL2303 USB to serial drivers on the disk provided or you can get the most up-to-date one at the SourceForge.net PL2303 site. Hook a Cisco console cable to the adaptor and plugged it into your Cisco switch/router. Once the driver is installed just open terminal and type "ls /dev/tty*" this will list the usb serial adaptor. Mine showed up as "/dev/tty.PL2303-0000101D". Then type "screen /dev/tty.PL2303-0000101D 9600" and voilà there's your Cisco console solution for Mac. Typing "CTL-A" then "CTL-\" will exit you back out to the terminal prompt. No additional software necessary. :)
