I was trying to connect one of our older model AG204 Mettler Toledo balances in our lab to a new Win7 (32 bit) machine. I first tried a Belkin USB to serial adapter, but the computer would not recognize the balance. After some researching on the Internet, the FTDI chipset kept popping up in blogs as the best for older applications. This device installed automatically in Win7 by connecting to Microsoft's site and downloading the latest driver. It worked perfectly with my BalanceLink software. Even though I had it shipped overnight, it was still cheaper than the Belkin I purchased (and returned) at on of the local office supply chains.
