Works as advertised to add Blu-ray drive to late model iMac. I have an LG Super Multi-Blue/Burner Drive. Simple to assemble and install. Inexpensive.
The two lights on the corners of the enclosure are bright and look a bit cheesy. I plan on re-opening the enclosure to disconnect them. Probably not sturdy enough to be truly/consistently portable but this not important as it will just sit next to the computer for me.
Have not yet tested Lightscribe or Bluray burning. Will update review if I have issues.
The enclosure worked properly for almost 2 years.
At 2 years of use the enclosure became unreliable, eventually failing to be recognized by the computer or OS. When powered up the lights would continually blink. The optical drive was removed and connected directly to a computer which verified that the drive was functioning normally.
