I didn't want to wait around for Samsung to release new firmware for the 980/990 drives so I got the WD black as an alternative. Fast, stable, and no drive health issues so far.
Still appreciate New Egg.
Expected WD Black to be reliable but mine was dead on arrival.
RMAed and returned to WesternDigital/San Disk which they received over 9 weeks ago and no replacement yet.
I should have returned it to New Egg but I fiddled around trying it on other machines which took too long.
I found other people saying online they had problems with WD Black too.
They confirmed they received the RMA and all they said was they had a inventory problem causing the replacement delay. Their RMA documentation said it would take up to 5 weeks to replace.
This really sucks for what I thought was a premium brand.
Would not recommend WD after this experience.
